Selected Projects
1. MODO CONTAINER
Casted Epoxy Resin
200 x 100 x 50mm
The idea began from an interest in translucent surfaces, particularly privacy windows. I was intrigued by how you can see the shapes and colours of items partly hidden behind the window. Using this as a starting point, I also looked at the household junk drawer for those items that don’t belong in any particular place.
Instead of hiding these away out of sight, I wondered what if those objects could be seen and celebrated in a different way.
2. LOOP SHELVING
Steel flat bar bracket, Ash timber.
Bracket dimensions:
150 x 140 x 35 mm
Loop is a thorough exploration of mild steel flat bar, using experimentation and a variety of looping techniques to reveal the material's inherent strengths, weaknesses, and creative potentials.
3. AN IMPRESSION OF OBJECTS
A5 Print, Black lino ink.
My submission for the Sori Yanagi Appreciation Society, Hand-carved woodblock illustrations of Sori Yanagi’s stainless cutlery, printed in black lino ink.
As part of the London Design Festival, the Sori Yanagi Appreciation Society was founded. A publication featuring contributions from over 100 designers and creatives was released to mark the society's launch, alongside an exhibit at the Tokyo Bike London store. Project initiated by Michael Marriott & Duncan Ritches.
4. LOOP STAND
Stainless steel
150 x 120 x 190mm
The Loop book and record stand is the latest addition to the Loop collection, crafted using the same production methods. This collection emerged from an exploration of mild steel flat bar, through an experimentation of a variety of techniques, which revealed the material’s inherent strengths, weaknesses, and creative potential.
Designed to be used as both a record and book stand, it can accommodate up to 15 records or a few books.
5. PESO (Record Weight)
Translucent SLA resin, stainless steel plates, M3 screws, cork
80 x 80 x 20mm
Spindle hole: 8mm
Weight approx. 150g
In partnership with Design Everything and Kindred, eighteen London-based designers were invited to reimagine a functional object for Kindred’s record shop in Clerkenwell. I decided to design the record weight, as it was an entirely new object for me. I wanted to challenge myself by working with something I wouldn’t have traditionally chosen. It was a challenge in the beginning, with endless possibilities but I simplified my ideas and focused on its function.
6. LATA LID
Sand casted aluminium.
After conducting firsthand research and discovering the extensive use and disposability of tin cans, I was inspired by studio culture, where items are stored in ad hoc objects, to create a secondary value for tin cans. Considering the process of sand casting, I explored how it can be utilised to help repurpose tins.
This particular design turns a tuna tin into a desk accessory, a tape dispenser top, or, when flipped over, it can be used as a desk tidy for small components.
7. QUADRANT STOOL
Pine timber, Felt sheet.
dia. 300mm x 400mm
The Quadrant stool takes its form from traditional quadrant wall mouldings. Four equal sections are joined to create a complete circle, with the components held together by a single felt sheet, which acts as both a structural element and a visual contrast.
The Quadrant stool is the begining of a series that explores the functions and possibilities of quadrant sections, with its initial exploration using felt as a binding method.
